DIY Scarf Holder–Repurposing & Upcycling
I don’t like plastic stuff.
Especially to organize my home.
I was having issues with storing my scarves and instead of doing something about it, I just let them pile up, all scrunched together in the corner of my closet.
Enter into my life, Pinterest. And a broken rake.
Ahhh, Pinterest.
It’s like the peanut butter to my jelly. The chocolate chip to my cookies.
Pinterest.
I saw this pin….A rake head with necklaces hanging off them.
Amazing that I happened to have one sitting in my front yard.
Seriously. A broken rake. For some reason I didn’t want to throw it away – maybe figured we could fix it instead of buying a new one.
Then we bought a new one and I still couldn’t throw it away.
It’s like I knew Pinterest would come into my life right about then.
I could do that.
I should do that.
I did do that.
Except with scarves – not necklaces.
I use to have all my scarves shoved in my closet on a circular belt holder – and it didn’t work. I also didn’t want to go buy some plastic contraption for my scarves. I don’t like plastic organizing stuff. Not sure why. Just don’t.
But I enjoy repurposing things. As you may have read in this post, I was repurposing before it was popular to do.
Maybe that’s why I don’t throw certain things away. Deep down I know it can be used for something else.
It works perfect.
I cleaned it off, put a screw in the wall, then hung it up.
It doesn’t take up any space and it makes it easy to get THE scarf you want.
With my other set up it required me to remove everything in order to get the one I wanted.
Irritating.
So – I am so glad that I never threw out the broken rake.
I’m so glad that I found Pinterest.
Here’s to repurposing!
